LG Electronics Announces Newest Netbook, the LG-X130 with Smart and Powerful Features
LG-X130’s new features enhance mobility and connectivity
Singapore, 10 September 2009 - LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, today announced the unveiling of its newest feature-packed netbook, the LG-X130.
“The success of netbooks in the market is not due to the inclusion of excessive features, but rather from their portability and design. Consumers today favour the convenience of being able to take their computers with them everywhere,” says Jeff Cheh, managing director, LG Electronics Singapore. “LG has aimed to develop an easy-to-use netbook that makes consumers’ lives easier by focusing on convenient portability, straightforward operation and connectivity without unnecessary configuration.”
The LG-X130 is light and sleek, and boasts a diverse range of smart and powerful features that enhance its portability. It enables users to surf the web, play online games, and enjoy various multimedia content anywhere, any time.
The LG-X130 packs a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor along with 1GB of RAM and can be fitted with a range of battery options including 3- and 6-cell units. A 9-cell battery is also available, offering a battery life of up to 12 hours. The system weighs 1.45 kg with a 9-cell battery.
The LG-X130 netbook is also equipped with a total care system called ‘Smart-Care’, which helps keep the machine up and running by inspecting and recovering from system errors with just a few clicks of the mouse. This smart solution includes an intelligent diagnostic engine with live updates, as well as support for multiple languages. It also comes with a Smart-Recovery feature, which helps the system recover from serious errors to ensure that even the most novice of computer users is always protected.
The LG-X130 boots in five seconds, the result of its Smart-On interface, which provides support for common applications including a web browser, messenger, games, an MP3 player, and photo viewer. This exclusive feature enables users to turn on the netbook and chat on an instant messaging client in just 10 – 15 seconds compared to over a minute on a conventional notebook.
The LG-X130-G offers an auto 3G handover function that improves internet connectivity. It gives users convenient and easy access to the internet without disconnection problems, regardless of the network environment. The Auto 3G handover enables seamless connection from a 3G network to a Wi-Fi network without additional configuration. This function includes support for GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, and HSDPA.
The stylish exterior of the LG-X130 is expected to appeal to the most style-conscious consumer. The new model is available with a glossy shell in a red-black fade colour scheme called “Sunrise” to provide an additional opportunity for consumers to accessorize to their personal taste. The Sunrise design will be added to the original colour options that include black, white, and pink, all of which feature a distinctive ripple pattern on the lid.
The LG-X130 also packs a range of multimedia features including a 1.3 megapixel webcam for video chatting and conferencing, advanced audio and video, and a LED backlit 1024 x 600 pixel screen.

HTC SENSE™ DEBUTS ON NEW HTC HERO™
HTC Hero is the world’s first Android-based phone with a customized user interface
HTC Sense to be integrated across a portfolio of phones beginning with HTC Hero
SINGAPORE, 4 Sep 2009 – HTC Corporation, a global leader in mobile phone innovation and design, today debuted HTC Sense™, an intuitive and seamless experience that will be introduced across a portfolio of phones beginning with the new HTC Hero™. With its distinct design and powerful capabilities fully integrated with HTC Sense, Hero introduces a unique blend of form and function that takes Android to new heights.
HTC Sense is focused on putting people at the centre by making your phone work in a more simple and natural way. This experience revolves around three fundamental principles that were designed by quietly listening and observing how people live and communicate.
“HTC Hero introduces a more natural way for reaching out to the people and accessing your important information, not by following the status quo of today’s phones, but by following how you communicate and live your life. HTC Sense is a distinct experience created to make HTC phones simpler for people to use, leaving them saying, it just makes sense,” said Peter Chou, Chief Executive Officer, HTC Corporation.
HTC Hero
HTC Hero continues HTC’s leadership in cutting-edge design that focuses on introducing a variety of distinct devices to represent your own individuality. Boasting bevelled edges and an angled bottom, the HTC Hero is contoured to fit comfortably in your hand and against your face while you’re on a call. The HTC Hero is built to last, beginning with an anti-fingerprint screen coating for improved smudge resistance and a longer lasting, clearer display. The white HTC Hero includes an industry-first, Teflon® coating, resulting in an improved, durable white surface that looks great*.
With its 3.2-inch HVGA display, the HTC Hero is optimized for Web, multimedia and other content while maintaining a small size and weight that fits comfortably in your hand. It also boasts a broad variety of hardware features including a GPS, digital compass, gravity-sensor, 3.5mm stereo headset jack, a 5 mega-pixel autofocus camera and expandable microSD™ memory. HTC Hero also includes a dedicated Search button that goes beyond basic search, providing you with a more natural, contextual search experience that enables you to search through Twitter, locate people in your contact list, find emails in your inbox or search in any other area in Hero.
HTC Sense
Built on a culture of innovation and a passion to enhance people’s lives, HTC shapes the mobile experience around the individual. Debuting on the HTC Hero and available on all new HTC devices moving forward, Sense delivers on three basic principles: Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected.
Make It Mine
Make It Mine, is about feeling your HTC phone – created for you and by you. To do this, HTC encourages you to dictate and organize how you want to access the people and content in your life in a way that fits best for you. For some, this means adding glance view widgets that push content like twitter feeds, weather and other content to the surface while others may want quick access to business-focused information like email, calendar and world-times. HTC is also introducing a new profile feature called Scenes that enables you to create different customized content profiles around specific functions or times in your life.
Stay Close
Today, staying in touch with the people in your life means managing a variety of communication channels and applications ranging from phone calls, emails, texts, photos, status updates and more. HTC Sense takes a different approach by integrating these communication channels and applications into one single view enabling you to stay closer to your important people. With HTC Sense, friends’ Facebook status updates and photos along with their Flickr photos are included along side their text messages, emails and call history in a single view.
Discover the Unexpected
Many of the most memorable moments in your life are experienced, not explained. HTC Sense is focused on providing a variety of these simple yet innovative experiences on your HTC phone that will sometimes bring you moments of joy and delight. It can be something as basic as turning the phone over to silence a ring or as simple as improving the smart dialer for making calls quicker. HTC Sense also includes Perspectives, a new way for viewing your content such as emails, photos, Twitter, music and more in different ways.
Pricing & Availability:
The new HTC Hero will be available in Absolute white and Urban brown from mid September 2009 at all authorized resellers at a suggested retail price of S$898**. Standard retail HTC Hero package will come with a 2GB microSD™ card.

LG’s Innovative BD390 Blu-ray Player Opens Up a New Dimension of Home Entertainment
Upgraded Online Capabilities Take Viewers Beyond the Living Room
Singapore, 3 September 2009 – LG Electronics, a major player in the global flat panel display and audio-video devices market, packs smart technologies and improved online capabilities inside the stylish LG BD390, its newest Blu-ray player. Alongside the latest trends in internet videos, the BD390 introduces new ways for viewers to enjoy their favourite online movies on the large HD TVs in their living rooms, rather than comparatively small computer screens, laptops and tiny portable TV monitors.
“The LG BD390 successfully delivers a wide variety of online media directly into the living room,” said Simon Kang, CEO and President of LG Home Entertainment Company. “The LG BD390’s networking features are true assets to customers, delivering exactly what customers want and need. LG will continue listening to our customers and reflect their insights in all of our home entertainment devices, bringing them ultimate entertainment and satisfaction.”
“LG continues to deliver on its promise of enhancing users’ lifestyle through its products and technology,” said Jeff Cheh, Managing Director, LG Electronics Singapore. “In the home entertainment front, the new LG BD390 brings new powerful capabilities that enable users to experience a new level of satisfaction, whether viewing their favourite online content or other media sources –- right in the comforts of their living rooms.”
Multifaceted Blu-ray Player with Unlimited Access
LG’s new BD390 Blu-ray player offers enhanced online capabilities. The player can stream online content like YouTubeTM videos, providing access to a massive virtual entertainment collection beyond simple DVD playback. With interactive BD-Live, based on the latest Blu-ray Profile 2.0, viewers can connect to the internet to enjoy games, music and movie trailers in the comfort of their living rooms. Furthermore, BD390’s 1GB of built-in, internal memory eliminates the need for external memory devices as it enables the storing online media directly on the LG BD390 for later enjoyment.
The LG BD390 delivers equally exceptional performance in picture and sound quality as it does in online capabilities. It up-converts standard DVDs to Full HD 1080p and provides movie watchers the finest picture quality for their existing collections. Dolby True HD, DTS-HD and 7.1ch analog output work together to create high bit-rate audio identical to the studio master, unlocking an exceptional high-definition entertainment experience from next-generation discs.
LG BD390’s enhanced features are a result of careful consideration of customer insights. Express Reaction Mode offers quick booting and loading, allowing users to insert a disc immediately after powering-on, while the player boots up. Discs are ready in a short 18 seconds after pressing the power button, waking the player from its standby mode, which uses less than one watt of power. DLNA certification makes content-sharing easy through an interoperable network in which digital content such as photos, music, and videos can be shared through electronic devices inside and outside the home. Connecting to the network is simple with wireless LAN. Furthermore, users can control an entire suite of LG home cinema components, including the BD390, with a single remote thanks to the SIMPLINK, for greater convenience.
LG’s versatile BD390 is compatible with a variety of formats from different media sources. These include MPEG4, video, JPEG, MP3 and WMA file formats, which can be stored on optical media like CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs, as well as USB memory. Other than the BD390’s compatibility with DivX HD and MKV, the ability to connect an external hard drive to the device further enhances playability for a truly immersive home entertainment. All content is rendered in the same brilliant quality that has made LG a favourite among consumers.
This smart Blu-ray DVD player, featuring LG’s most advanced technology, is now available at all major consumer electronic retailers in Singapore at a recommended retail price of S$799.

NIRVANA’S LEGENDARY NEVER-BEFORE-RELEASED 1992 READING CONCERT SET TO DEBUT IN NOVEMBER
“Nirvana headlining at Reading in 1992 was something you had to see, and if you didn’t see it then it was something you pretended you saw.” –Kerrang (October 2003)
“The staggering energy and intensity radiating from the stage never let up… Cobain’s ravaged pop songs coming off like some dream marriage of the Sex Pistols and the Beatles, borne on bracing waves of distorted guitar noise.” –Rolling Stone (October 29, 1992)
SINGAPORE, 2 Sep 2009 – Ranked #1 in Kerrang Magazine’s “100 Gigs That Shook The World” and voted as “Nirvana’s #1 Greatest Moment” by fans in an NME poll, Nirvana’s historic August 30, 1992 headlining appearance at the UK’s Reading Festival is one of the most bootlegged concerts in the annals of rock’n’roll. Now, fans will have an opportunity to own a pristine copy of that entire performance — colour-corrected video from the original film with audio sourced from the original multi-track masters. Nirvana Live At Reading will be issued in a limited edition CD+DVD Deluxe Edition as well as DVD-only, CD-only configurations on November 2, 2009, followed by a 2 LP version on November 16, 2009.
While the show’s centerpiece was a performance of nearly the entire Nevermind tracklist, also noteworthy were early performances of three as yet unrecorded songs which wouldn’t be released until 2 years later on In Utero: “All Apologies,” “Dumb,” and in its first ever public performance, “tourette’s.” The career-spanning setlist also reached back to the band’s 1989 Sub Pop debut album, Bleach, for “Blew,” “About A Girl,” “School,” “Negative Creep” and first single “Love Buzz,” and even further back to the mid-‘80s for “Spank Thru.” Other songs from the Reading set would appear in studio form on the Incesticide compilation later in the year: “Aneurysm,” “Been A Son” and “Sliver.” Additionally, the band played a pair of beloved covers by two bands that helped shape the formative Nirvana sound – “The Money Will Roll Right In” by Fang and “D-7” by The Wipers.
Only 2 of the 25 performances on the DVD have ever been released before.
